I can come to your home to help you set up your devices or sort out a problem. I can explain things in English or French. I specialise in supporting older adults and families who live far from their parents.
I’ll set up your new computer, phone or tablet and help you move the photos, contacts and documents you want to keep.
I’ll check what’s slowing your computer down before suggesting a replacement. Sometimes a few changes are enough to keep it going.
If your budget is really tight, I can also look at replacing your current operating system with Ubuntu. It’s free to use, and I’ll first check whether it suits your computer and the programs you need. I’ll help you get used to it if we decide it’s a good fit.
If you’re stuck with an app, a printer or something that won’t work, I can sit down with you and help you work it out.
Wi-Fi throughout the house, safe photos and device backups: I help you choose and set up a solution that works for you.
I’ll check where your Wi-Fi works well and where it struggles, then help you improve it.
I’ll help you choose where to keep your photos. We can use the cloud service you already have, storage at home, or a combination of both.
I’ll explain any equipment or cloud subscription costs before we start. You buy these directly from the provider, with the accounts in your name.
No. I’ll help you plan a separate backup as well. RAID can keep a NAS running after some drive failures, but it doesn’t protect you from theft, fire or accidentally deleting your files.
I’ll take the time to understand what your parent needs and show them how to use their devices at their own pace. If you live further away, we can plan the visit together with their agreement.
With your parent’s agreement, I’ll talk to you before the visit and explain what I’ve set up afterwards.
If your parent would like relatives to be able to check in remotely, I can help install and configure connected cameras suited to their home.
I’ll only install cameras with your parent’s agreement, in places they’re comfortable with. We’ll decide together who can see the images, and I’ll show them how to switch the camera off. I help with installation and setup; I don’t provide ongoing monitoring or an emergency response service.
I’ve listed my prices below so you can see what to expect before contacting me.
Additional costs: I’ll tell you which parts, licences or equipment you need to pay for separately. If a visit takes longer than expected or a fault is more complex, I’ll discuss the price with you before continuing.
Not usually. I can do many jobs at your home, which lets me check your printer, Wi-Fi and other devices at the same time.
Yes. I’ll start with what you want to do and how much you’d like to spend. We can work out whether a computer, tablet or phone makes the most sense, then compare suitable options within your budget. If ordering still feels overwhelming, I can go through it with you and help you place the order. I charge €45 for up to one hour of advice and help ordering. The device itself is paid for separately.
